On Saturday, August 28th, MoveForward Fitness held its first ever in-person event of the year. Ninja in the Park! celebrated the fact that less COVID-19 restrictions meant more opportunities to not only train outside safely, but to do so with more than one person at a time! It was evident how excited each MoveForward staff member (Brittany and Tom’s Miss Sophie included) was to welcome all the in-person participants of the day into Ken Steele Park and to connect with each one before the start of the workout at 10AM (EST).
For the first 45 minutes of the session, Trainer Tom separated the group into two lines, one on each side. Each team member had their own hula hoops to stay within, being distanced by two metres as per COVID-19 prevention protocols. Then, the workout was set up to have the first team member on each side, known as the “inside” pair, make their way down the line together doing a different exercise than the rest of their team members, known as the “outside” group. Once the “inside pair” made it to the end, the “outside” group would move up toward the top of the line for the next “inside” pair to start their turn. The occasional light rain that day didn’t disrupt the flow of the session nor the fun everyone was having, as passersby in the area could hear grunting, laughter, and enthusiastic encouragement from “outside” team members to the “inside” pair to make it across the imaginary finish line waiting for them.
After working so hard alongside each other during Trainer Tom’s workout, Brittany gave the whole group a chance to slow down their movements and breath with her Yogi Strong stretching for the last 15 minutes of the session. By the end of the yoga portion, we realized that the rain had cleared and the sun was out! This, combined with our workout, left us feeling good, refreshed, and rejuvenated!
